*I received a free copy of this book for review from Celebrate Lit.
I’m not usually a huge fan of novellas, and to be honest, when I signed up to review this book I didn’t realize that’s what it was, hah. I’m also kind of getting out of the Amish craze, so I’m not even sure what made me pick this book.
I was pleasantly surprised, however, when I started reading, to find myself getting drawn into each story. None of them are “over the top” when it comes to the Amish element and the authors focus more on creating a good storyline which I deeply appreciate.
One of my issues with novellas, though, is that the story always seems to end abruptly. It’s often so stilted you feel like you’ve been left hanging – or that the ending is not realistic since it’s this “BOOM” you’re saved let’s get married scenario…and these books are very much like that. Which I found disappointing since I was really getting into the stories.
I think the second one in the series was my favourite as it was more of a mystery and I LOVE mysteries. Overall, I think these stories were really well-written and I would totally pick up the book again when I just need a short book to fill some time.
